In some circumstances, you may be able to apply for the compassionate release of superannuation to help pay for eligible dental treatment. Approval is determined by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and is subject to the applicable eligibility requirements. Meeting the requirements or submitting an application does not guarantee that your superannuation will be released. Our contracting dental practices only facilitate applications through SuperCare for patients who wish to explore this payment pathway. We do not offer, process or arrange any alternative superannuation-release pathway. The application is made by you, the patient, and the decision to release superannuation is made by the ATO—not by our practice or SuperCare. You should carefully review your application and supporting information before submitting it. We do not guarantee approval, the amount released, or the timeframe for a decision. For dental treatment, the ATO may require supporting medical reports, together with documentation such as a detailed treatment plan and an itemized quote or invoice. The treatment must satisfy the relevant compassionate-release requirements, which can include treatment necessary to alleviate acute or chronic pain, or for certain other qualifying medical circumstances.Important: Superannuation cannot simply be accessed to pay for any dental treatment on request. Cosmetic or elective treatment that does not meet the applicable compassionate-release requirements may not qualify. Providing false or misleading information in an application or medical report can have serious consequences. If you are considering this option, please speak with our team about the treatment and SuperCare application process. We can provide the relevant treatment information and quotation required for your application; however, you remain responsible for making the application and ensuring that the information submitted is accurate and complete. For the most current eligibility requirements, patients should refer to the ATO's compassionate release of superannuation requirements.
